How do Life Line Screenings Work?

Life Line conducts health screenings in locations like community and senior centers, places of worship, civic buildings, and some businesses host screenings. These screening events go on all around the country, in 48 states.

To find events near you, start by entering your ZIP code on Life Line Screening’s website, then click the Schedule a Screening button and provide your age, height, weight, and answer a few health risk-related questions. Choose from the list of recommended preventive health screening packages shown on the website. Finally, purchase your health screenings and schedule an appointment on the site or by calling Life Line’s toll-free number.

At your screening, fully certified ultrasound technologists complete the health screenings. Life Line Screening sends results within two to three weeks via U.S. Mail, but some may be available immediately. You may also receive recommendations for further testing with your doctor, depending on your health screening results. State-licensed, board-certified physicians review all screening results after processing in a laboratory certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s CLIA regulations.

I went to Life Line Screening about two weeks ago, and my experience was okay. The screening process went smoothly. It took maybe an hour and a half, but that was a big wag. The technicians were very professional and it was a very comfortable operation for me. I took the screening for heart disease and stroke. At my age, they were looking to see if there was any problem along that way, but there wasn't. The results looked like a good report that I received back. I turned the information over to my doctor.

I've been using Life Line for years. They're cheaper than my doctor. Their technicians are fine. They were concerned because I had a 300 on one side of my heart. They told me they wanted to call 911 and I said, "I think I know what caused it. Actually, I feel fine. I know the other side is that way, but this has happened before." As the screening started at 9:00, I had one shot of Cuban coffee at 6:00 am in the morning and I said, "I'm really thinking that that's what's affected it. But trust me, I will take the report." They gave me a little USB and a picture of it and I took it to my doctor's office.

When I followed up with the doctor, he said that I do have plaque on one side. So, we've ordered some medication to either make sure the plaque stays. I found out for some people that it's not that bad of a surgery or you're not out that long. So, we'll see what happens, but it was eye-opening. So, I'm eating better. Life Line is excellent. I've never had a problem with them. That's why I go back every year. It's the best deal for the money. If you don't have time to go to a doctor or the hours, you can pick and choose when you go and it's quick and easy and you're in and out. You get the report that you want and you can share it with your doctor or share it with your family. It works fine.

The screening process with Life Line went well. Their techs were friendly. They explained things. I ended up taking the screening results to my doctor. The only thing is they didn't give any percentages on some of the stuff, but the way the screening works, I can understand why they can't give a percentage. Otherwise, everything was fine. I'm glad I did it.

We got screening for the arteries through Life Line and that was where we found out that I have a blockage in my right artery and I'm having trouble getting help. We went to the hospital. The guy looked at it and said, "Oh, I can't use that." Then he made an appointment all the way out in Cleveland and at the university. We had a heck of a time finding that. Finally, we asked the gentleman and he got in his little white bus and showed us. He took us right to the spot and I said, "Oh, bless you."

Life Line's technicians were very nice. I have told my family and friends about Life Line and I've told them the good things. The only thing I was a little concerned about was that they were telling us not to wait 48 hours. They were suggesting that we see a doctor or the emergency room and we did and that was where all the hectic started. They sent us to someone. We finally got in a few days and we had the stuff that Life Line gave us to give him. He said, "Just put it away. It's no good for me." I found out later from other people that they want their own.

Life Line's technicians are very efficient. They were friendly. It was early in the morning, and they were prepared. I've done the preventative screening several times over the years. The results have been very thorough. I would recommend it. It is well worth the time and the money. Even though there is an expense involved, it's a lot more to have all that done at the hospital.

The customer service at Life Line Screening was okay. We had a little waiting, but that was expected. There were a few people in there. So, it was okay. The results we received were excellent because they did find a blocked artery and I am now going to have surgery quickly to get it cleaned up. I was 80 to 90% blocked in my carotid artery. I had no idea. From there, I went to the ER and they referred me to a vascular surgeon and went from there, and the surgery is right around the corner.

Well, I've had some clogged arteries before. I just wanted to have them checked and make sure that they're not getting plaque. The screening technicians from Life Line seemed to know what they were doing. They were courteous. They are good at their job. It took a half-hour by the time I went through to different stations. The results were that the one on my neck, on the left-hand side, had more plaque than the one on the right side. There were enough where I needed to have it taken care of or have it looked at again. I was very satisfied.

I had called Life Line last time while they had checked out my girlfriend. I went on the computer. I was getting a Life Line Screening for her. I jotted down on a piece of paper the address and then the place she goes to. I talked to a lady at Life Line Screening about that. I made copies and gave them to my doctor. They’ve been checking on it. They're trying to find a doctor for the left side of my carotid artery. Most of my stuff was normal. They sent me for a bone test. They hadn’t given me a report on that. The technicians are nice. I feel like I needed to get screened because the doctors aren't checking all the stuff. So, I figured I’d help the doctor by getting the Life Line Screening and see what kind of shape I’m in. Life Line treats me well.

I was driving down the road, saw Life Line's sign out from a church, and I stopped by. They took me in and did a little bit of screening. Then I went back the next year. I've been there at least three times. The technicians were very business-like. They had to be really on their toes when the deal was made because I got to talk to them. I'm telling them about my whole life history and with 80 years, I got a lot to tell. So, they almost had to say, “Hey, we can't talk to you,” but they were very nice. They didn’t get rude about telling me to shut up and, “Just let us do our work.”

I told them to get my paperwork. It took a little longer. I know they didn’t like paperwork, but they finally sent it to me. I thought they'd send me two copies. I took it to my doctor. They hooked me up with a cardiologist. I said, “Over at Life Line Screening, they got a thing in my neck they found. That's where it'd pop. And I'm about to have a stroke. My blood pressure’s sky high. Now, what are you gonna do?” “We're gonna get you in.” They took me back to a room. It wasn't quite as bad as what I let on, but I wanna get in. So, they got me in.

My wife told me about preventative screening, and it was a good idea. Everybody at Life Line was pleasant. The screening took some time, but it was not too much. They gave me good directions. I did all the screenings. I did one extra test. The results say I need to get in better shape. I would recommend Life Line to friends.

Everything with Life Line was good. There was just a little bit of wait because there were a few people ahead there. Everything went well. They went from one to the next. It took about half an hour, but it wasn't a whole long time. As far as the results, everything was normal for the most part. For me, the screening is a good thing because I'm almost 80. I'm still up and around. I'm just keeping a check on how the arteries are. They said they were going to let me know if it was something bad.

With my age, I figured it was time to get some screenings done. The check-in process with Life Line was very nice. The lady was smiling, very friendly and explained everything really well. Each of the techs was extremely nice. They explained everything that they were going to do and it was a pleasant experience. They had very nice personalities. It probably took five to seven minutes for each section that I went to. So, it wasn't a long experience. I was out of there within an hour of checking in. I was very pleased with the whole process and the results. Life Line is a good place to start whenever you start getting older to be flagged for your health concerns. The cost is very reasonable, too.

I did Life Line about 15 years ago. I thought it was a good idea because doctors don't particularly give you preventative tests. Life Line caught my husband's very high blood sugar and nobody knew about it. So, that saved his life. I decided to have the heart evaluated because I was having some breathing issues. So, I wanted my heart checked. Also, I have a thyroid problem so I wanted my carotid artery checked.

Life Line's techs were quiet. The one girl who checked my carotid artery had to call another girl over and I said, "What's wrong?" They said, "Oh, we can't discuss it with you." I was like, "Gee, thanks a lot." The results were accurate. I'm still getting tested because of that. I went to my doctor with the results, and he put me under intense tests. So, I had the same test as they gave me. I had the ultrasound. At the end of this month, I'm getting a stress test.

I had a screening done a few years ago and Life Line Screening keeps sending me letters reminding me my carotid artery was clogging up. So, I thought I'd go check and see how far along it went. I got there at just the right time. My appointment must have been right at the beginning because I was there alone at first. I couldn't find it at first because there was nobody. I was expecting lots of cars, but there wasn't anyone there yet. But by the time they were done with me, it had filled up well.

As far as the tests, I've been through it before. I knew what to expect. I had the aortal abdominal aneurysm thing done, a blood flow to my feet, and my carotid arteries. Everything else is well taken care of by my primary doctors. The Life Line techs had me come back and they redid my carotid artery because they found something that they think they may have overlooked. They just called me back before I left to go back and have them recheck one side. They might not have gotten a clear picture and they wanted a better one. They were very nice about it. I said, "No problem. I'm in no hurry."

I got the results in electronic form too. I have a MyChart. I have many conditions going on. So, I linked right to my doctors closely online and I just sent them the whole shebang and they looked it over. They sent me another email back already that I should set up an appointment with the number to the vascular unit to go get it double-checked again. I was very satisfied with Life Line. I've never had anything but pleasant experiences with it. The reminders were funny at first, but it was nice to know that they were still thinking about me all the time. Every time there was a shop going on near me, I always got a letter in the mail, "Don't forget. Your artery is plugged up. You better go get it checked again." So, I thought that was nice.

I decided I should see what was going on and make sure that everything was good. So, I signed up for screening. I went with Life Line's initial package which includes the carotid artery and heart disease with the flow from extremities. They measured the flow from my legs around my arms. They were looking for the aneurysm. The first one that I had was for the carotid artery. That was easy to ultrasound on that. The tech was not very talkative but just walked me through the process. It seemed very comfortable. She didn't have any feedback on that one. Ironically, that's the one that I had an issue with and I'm trying to follow up on.

I had the second one where they put things around my wrist and ankles for the blood flow. The technician was good with that, we had a good conversation, and there was feedback. Everything seemed to go well on that one. So, I was very comfortable and there was not any feeling of intimidation from any of them. They did a good job.

I passed the results to my doctor, and we're gonna follow up and do another scan. So, the carotid artery scan that was done was showing some signs of blockage, and that was concerning. So, I'm following up in another two weeks or so at another place to do imaging. That would be an interesting time to find out if Life Line's screening is matching what I get. The doctor requested a significant expert on this next scanning to make sure that nothing is wrong. I'm encouraged by Life Line. I like the idea of getting a scan to know if there's a problem or not. It's good knowledge to be upfront if something's wrong and get it done quickly.

The Life Line technicians were humane and their personality’s good. The screening process was fast because that's their job. The total process took roughly an hour. I take the results as they come. I’m 73 years old. I did construction for 60 years. I've been staying away from my doctor because they've been giving me medication. I just said, “To hell with it. Let it take its course,” unless something comes up on the test. I’d go for a second opinion with Life Line.

I was taking care of my wife. She had a stroke and she's passed away now, but I was trying to monitor myself and make sure I was in good health to be able to take care of her. So, I was doing preventative screening. Then I just kept it up because I was seeing where I had problems with the artery. The result was great for what it revealed. The preventative screening staff was really very amiable and explained things before they did it.

I wanted to have a preventative screening done. I take good care of myself. Life Line was the one doing all the advertisements, I was getting a lot of emails, and they’re in my hometown. Their tech did the screening and asked questions and he was very professional. They did everything. The results said that there are minor buildup and I went to my doctor and everything is okay. It’s typical. I’m 75. So, it was minor.

I've been to Life Line twice now and the screening process was efficient. They call you and you go behind the screen and they do the testing. It’s simple. The technicians were very nice and very professional. I had a blocked artery on one side of my neck. Life Line Screening said it was 80% blocked. So, I went to my doctor and he decided to have it reevaluated. So, I then had it. They did a screening on me for it and discovered that it wasn't 80% blocked, it was about 60% blocked. He said that, at that point, I wouldn't need an operation. If it was 80%, I would have needed an operation. Life Line did find the problem. So, now, I'm on medication for it.

Both my husband and I started doing preventative screening through Life Line when they first started. We did it because our regular insurance does not cover the cost of the tests that Life Line provides, which are a little bit more decisive. They have my carotid artery screened. I have a history of high cholesterol in my family and cardiac disease. And when I go for my regular physical, I know my cholesterol is high, but they don't check my arteries. They don't do the screening that Life Line does to check my whole circulatory system if anything's being clogged up. I didn't want to take preventative medicine for high cholesterol if it was not plugging anything up. So, that was one of the main reasons we went to Life Line. The aortic aneurysm test is also not covered by the insurance, and that is in my family.

So, we went with Life Line mainly because their costs are much lower than what a regular physician would charge for the test that they do, and they’re more comprehensive than our regular annual physical. The screening process was fine. The technicians that we had this time, as compared to seven years ago, were not as friendly and not as communicative. The initial person we spoke with when you sit down to check in was absolutely wonderful. The people doing the tests did their job, but they weren’t very friendly. If I didn't ask what was going on and what tests they were doing, I wasn't aware of it.

The young gentleman who tested me for my cholesterol level and bone density spoke very low and softly. When you're older, they need to speak up a little louder so we can hear them and understand what they're saying. Other than that, they all did their job wonderfully. It just they could be a little bit friendlier and they could speak a little louder and a little more clearly so we understand what they're doing. Otherwise, it was just a few of them that were not as communicative as they should have been.

I would recommend Life Line, especially if you have a history of any kind of family issues that you know you need to continue to look further into like the ultrasound on the carotid artery. Even if your cholesterol is high, you might be fine or everything is clear. There's probably no need to take medications. It's cost-preventative to do it with a regular doctor. It's probably 1000 bucks or more for an ultrasound if you just want to check it out on your own. But with Life Line, the cost is great for what you do. You can't beat the cost for the safety of your mind that things are okay inside.

When I signed up with Life Line, they reduced my overall cost. I had had a diagnosis by a cardiologist and I hadn't seen him in two years. I was curious about how that was going with me, and I knew Life Line was gonna check that arena. Their techs were all very professional and very good. If you haven't had a checkup in a long time, it's a good idea to sign up with Life Line.

My brother is having some heart issues. So, I figured I better get a preventative screening done to see what's going on. My experience with Life Line was good. I had quite a bit of screening done, and I've got some crowded artery issues that I might have to address. I'm going for a physical next week and I'm gonna take it to my doctor and see what he says.

Life Line's screening process was good this time. Before, it wasn't so well. My name was mixed up with the receptionist there. She seemed to have a not good attitude. We already took care of that, though. We filed the complaint and everything was addressed. This year, things went nicely. We did one of their packages, and then there was one additional test for inflammation in the blood. The only problem I had was when the tech was checking my carotid artery, he seemed to have a problem. He had to try four times just to get it right. I was a little unsure if it was correct or not. We already have told people that we do preventative screening and that they should also do it at this age. It's not tough that you get your regular doctor visits. So, we always tell everybody that they should do it.

It seemed that Life Line was a little understaffed at our location this time. So, people waited. The wait was long. Other than that, everything was fine. The quality of the results is good. I'm following up next week with some additional tests on a couple of things that came back a little out of whack.

I've been doing preventive screening with Life Line for four years now. Usually, it's for five things. This latest time, I just had the legs and I had moderate plaque for the last two years in my carotid. So, I told them, "Just go with that." I also did the peripheral testing. Their techs were all good. They were all polite and explained everything they were doing. I've had a good outcome with the screenings. I didn't know that I had plaque in my carotid artery. They told me it was significant this time. So, I've seen my physician and we've already been in contact with a cardiologist. It's great that there's something like Life Line out there because if I had to use my insurance, it'd cost me a lot of money and I would never do it. I wouldn't do the tests if it wasn't for Life Line.

I did preventative screening several years ago because I didn't have a special doctor. I wasn't going to do it anymore because I do have a heart doctor and I see them regularly. So, I didn't see any need for Life Line, but the representative who called me was wonderful and I did it for her. I appreciate that the company does it but I never show the results to my doctor. My heart doctor knows exactly what's wrong with my heart. So, I really don't see the point but I think that what Life Line does is great. I'm just not sure I'm gonna do it again.

Life Line does a very good service. They treated me fine. I have no criticism for it. I'm checked every three months for my heart and every three months for my kidneys and I go to my regular doctor every six months. So, I'm well covered. It's just not necessary for me, but I think it's a good thing for those who don't go to the doctor regularly. Going through Life Line is worth it. I would recommend it.

I've been doing preventative screening through Life Line for years. Their techs are very polite and courteous. The screenings are done very privately and they're very nice about it and they try to make you feel as comfortable as possible for anything, particularly when they stick you with a needle. This time, they found a little something that needed to be seen later on by my doctor. My doctor has sent me on to get a professional second opinion, and Life Line Screening was right on top of it. What the other doctor said and what Life Line Screening told me was true to the problem. I'm not a person who likes to go to the doctor all the time. Therefore, I can go to Life Line Screening. If they notice anything that needs to be taken care of, then I do it. I have recommended Life Line to a lot of my friends that went there, too.

Life Line's preventative screening seemed like a good offer. It seemed like they touched upon all the things that we could be concerned about down the road if anything went a little wrong. So, I did it and they were very consistent and competent. First, it was a comfortable environment. Secondly, it went quickly. There was no waiting. Thirdly, each of the people who I went to appeared to be very confident and on the money. So, it was an easy process.

One of the results deserves a follow-up, which I'm going to do. I told them I did have a heart attack back on December 1st. So, when I went through this new screening, it did identify some of the things that I have to look out for down the road. It indicated things that I normally didn't think that I had to deal with, and there's no way that I would have the ability to find out what that stuff is without using the professional health and lifetime screening. I'd recommend Life Line. The cost is a bargain. You're getting an awful lot for $120.

I had six different things done with Life Line Screening. The screening took some time, but the customer service and the way I was treated when I arrived were fine. As far as the results, they were close to being right. I took it upon myself to give the results to my doctor.

We were in town and Life Line was putting on a screening and I had some questions. I wanted a PSA test and I went in and got it, but they screwed up the test. I didn't get my PSA results and that was in January. Luckily, I saved the receipt that had the PSA on it that I paid for. I talked with them four times, and they rescheduled me for another one here in Palisade in June. I went in and got it and I finally got my PSA. I got the results about three weeks later. I just don't know if I'll continue with Life Line or not. I'm not really happy with Life Line. I think I'm going to cancel it. Their screening process was very efficient. They did a good job. The only problem is they didn't give me the results for the test I wanted.

Life Line Screening found that my left carotid artery was 75% blocked. So, I went and talked to a few doctors and they had to pull it off and they said they didn't even know who Life Line was. I said, "Well, I got the information." They wouldn't even look at the information. Thank God, I did find a surgeon that did the job just a month ago. So now, it's completely cleaned out. But if it wasn't for Life Line, I'd be having a stroke right now.

I have high cholesterol, like 290s, and I can't take any of the statins. So, I knew this day was coming sooner or later and it just so happened that my church was sponsoring Life Life to come out there. So, it was good timing. I went there and I was correct. It was bad. Life Line told me right away, "Go see a doctor as soon as you can." The techs were awesome and they set me on the right path. I did the carotid artery screening, stomach, and aneurysm screening, and then they did the four blood pressures, ankles, and shoulders. The quality of the results was top-match.

Six years ago, I had done Life Line screening in different areas, and my carotid artery was starting to fill up. It was minor but I thought it was time to check it out again when the advertisement came. So, I did. When I first called to make an appointment, they put pressure on me to take all the other tests. I think they meant well because the price did not change if I took fewer tests. I just wasn't concerned about the other tests. I didn't take the other tests because my husband's in AFib. I know what AFib is like, and I've done a lot of doctoring through my husband. So, I didn't think the other things were important enough for me to spend my time. I did the carotid and it was under-critical. They were very nice about it. They worked a bit to test whether they were hitting the right spot. I'm glad I did.

The first time I ever took a Life Line Screening, I took it to the doctor for my medical checkup and they didn't believe in it. So, this time, I had a doctor's appointment soon after. Different things showed up. Finally, I said, “I know that you, as the medical field, think we're wasting our money by taking these test but mine did show up.” I told her what it was and before I left, she said, “Could you bring those papers in?” She wasn't on duty the next day but the next time she was on duty, she was calling because she had a cardiologist appointment for me. So, I was thankful I did. I'm praying I won't have a stroke before.

The people that did the screening were very nice and helpful. I appreciated them. The screening took about 10 minutes. They were quick. The lady who was doing it for me had difficulty finding the spot. She called another lady in to take the test, and it was on the very side where my clogged artery was. At this point, I'm very thankful to have a cardiologist appointment. I'm not worried about it. I put it in God's hands, but I'm glad that we're going to be doing something about it.

I had preventative screening done through Life Line about five years ago. We're in our 80s, and Pete would never go before. So this time, I signed up. But after I signed up and paid, I got another thing with more tests, and it was cheaper. So, I called and they were very kind to give me the credit and sign me up for the better deal. And then I told them I wanted to sign my husband up too and just told him he was going. It's a good thing we did go. They found that his carotid artery on the right was blocked badly. I don't know how they determined that, but it was a big heads-up. We went to the doctor. The doctor wasn't in that day. It was a Friday. They did call her and she ordered something with contrast, and we were referred right away to a doctor that takes care of that stuff.

He ran his test and did a CT scan thing with contrast. He said that he had to have that taken care of, and we were okay with that. So on the 10th, he'll go in for a carotid endarterectomy. He described it, showed it to us, and said, “It's like a pile of rocks in there.” They can't put a stent in because he wouldn't be able to expand it or he has to go in under two nerves and take them out, which is scary. But it was scarier thinking Pete was walking around like a little time bomb.

The Life Line screening techs were wonderful. And on Pete, the lady kept testing. She moved that thing around some more and looked at it. Then she had a wait for a minute and she did it again. Finally, she said, “I'll be right back.” She looked at it and she did it again. And then she turned around and was writing stuff. But on the top of the paper, it said, “Critical.” I thought, “Ugh.” She gave the paper to us and then said, “Wait a minute.” She downloaded the pictures they had taken and gave us a little thing to take to the doctor's office. She said, “I want you to take this right to your doctor or the emergency room within 24 hours.” So, that gets your attention. She was very calm and very reassuring. I felt they gave us all the information to take to the doctor. So, I was very pleased with the people and the testing.

My experiences with Life Line were all great. I went to them a couple of times. I had preventative screening done before and I thought, "Well, I better get it done again," as I saw something on there that I didn't like. The techs were great. Because of the results, we went through more tests. If somebody's having problems, Life Line is a good thing to go to.

I had an excellent experience with Life Line Screening. A doctor recommended it and he wanted a baseline on my heart and it was convenient and affordable. Their techs were efficient. They were confident in themselves. So, I didn't have to worry about anything. They told me to lay there, I did it, and they did their thing and I did my thing and I walked out of there. The results were fine, and the doctors always appreciate it. Going with Life Line is doable. I've gotten Life Line Screening several people to do it because it's easy to not have to go into a doctor's office or to a hospital. You go someplace close to where you live. It takes 30 minutes depending on what kind of tests you do, and it's really affordable and convenient.

I appreciate what Life Line has done for me. The people doing the tests were nice. The tests went well and it wasn't hectic at all. The lady there told me I have the insurance and they'd be taking $20 out a month. I got the tests for the bone density and the risk for heart attack. The screening gave me a good result. Like my family, I have high blood pressure, but they told me that's the only problem they saw, and that it wasn't too bad. The experience was life-changing. If I need it again, I would like to get it again.

My experience with Life Line went great. They did their job. They called me up almost immediately. There wasn't a lot of wait time, and they knew what they were doing because you come out of one place, go into another, and all the way till you get through. The techs were great. They talked to me. They let me know each step they were doing. The quality of the results are great, too. If you hadn't had a thorough check-up, then I would recommend the screening with Life Line because most doctors don't do this.

Life Line Screening is a valuable service for the reasonable cost and the short amount of time it takes. It's about a 45-minute process. In my particular case, they concentrated on the carotid artery areas, the left side and the right side of the neck, and the stomach area for aneurysms. It was a valuable experience. As far as the reps, I get an update through an email request saying that they're going to be holding a Life Line Screening in particular areas and they ask if I have an interest to sign up and to pick a time that works for me. It's lowkey in terms of them pushing it. And when I go in, they have a check-in process and I go grab a seat, and then they call me when they're ready.

The Life Line Screening techs were excellent. They were professional and quick, and my privacy was protected. The whole going in, checking in and getting the test done took about 20 minutes. I immediately called my doctor on one of the screening results and I went in for a hospital type screening. The results came back comparable. The screening with Life Line was a quick way to get a baseline to know where I needed to direct my doctor to investigate further.
