About Safe Step Walk-In Tubs

Safe Step is the premier walk-in bathtub and shower provider in the United States. What we like about Safe Step is how they include bathroom modifications, plumbing, and electrical work and installation in the cost of their walk-in tub quotes.

Safe Step Walk-In Tubs come equipped with standard features that other companies consider optional upgrades, such as cleaning systems and therapeutic devices. We’ve rated Safe Step the “Great for Arthritis and Joint Pain” winner in our walk-in tub buyers’ guide because Safe Step has the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease of Use certification.

Plus, every Safe Step tub is customized to meet the size and design needed for the project, ensuring an accessible bathing experience. The company’s tubs are manufactured in the United States, come with a lifetime warranty, and, according to company representatives, are the no. 1 choice by sales volume for the product category.

After purchasing a Safe Step tub, the company will arrange for delivery, installation, and hauling away your old tub or shower. You don’t need to hire additional plumbers or electricians to complete the project. However, upfront fees may be required to start construction.

Pros

  • Most full-service installations and removals take less than one day
  • More features than other tubs
  • Shower hybrid option
  • Financing and discounts available

Cons

  • May charge an upfront deposit
  • Only 10 possible hydro jets

Safe Step Walk-In Tub Features

While the size and shape of Safe Step walk-in tubs often vary, many have the same standard features.

The models have several key safety and comfort features to minimize risk during bathing for anyone with mobility issues. Users get into the tub using a side door, shut the sealed door, then fill their bath without worrying about falls, slips, or trips. The heated seat keeps users warm while they wait for the tub to fill.

Because Safe Step can customize its product to fit customers’ needs, homeowners rarely need to change the size or layout of their bathroom. Therapeutic devices are standard on all tubs, including the Dual Hydrotherapy Massage System and Chromotherapy System.

These benefits and safety features are the reason why people buy Safe Step walk-in tubs:

Safe Step Walk-in Tub Costs and Pricing

Safe Step walk-in tubs are an investment in the comfort and safety of the homeowner. The company was reluctant to share prices with us because, like any construction project, product and installation costs will vary depending on the size and scope of the project. However, we were told that Safe Step models start at $10,000 for the walk-in tub, including shipping and installation.

The company avoids quoting general prices since nearly every project is unique. To help make the cost more manageable, the company offers a financing plan with approved credit. Before choosing a payment plan, check interest charges and compare them with other credit-based options.

Safe Step offers a “Helping Hands Rebate” of up to $1,500 to help offset the lack of Medicare coverage and discounts for military veterans.

You can get a free quote by completing a form on the Safe Step website. For guidance on what to look for in the price of a walk-in tub, visit our walk-in tub guide.

Safe Step Warranty

Safe Step covers its products with a lifetime warranty on parts and labor for the original purchaser as long as a company representative installed the product. This warranty covers the tub (including manufacturing defects), door seal, faucets, water pumps, heaters, and blowers.

Specific exclusions may apply, and coverage may not pay for all service or labor costs for every repair. There is a two-year warranty on caulking.

Safe Step Customer Service

Safe Step provides customer service via phone or chat on its website 24 hours a day. For those interested in buying a tub, a salesperson will return your call within an hour or two, or you can schedule a time to see one of the many showrooms in the U.S. We recommend visiting one of these showrooms so you can test the functionality of the walk-in tub before purchasing.

Those who have already purchased a tub have access to the customer service line from the moment they pay their initial deposit. This same phone number will connect them to a representative for any ongoing troubleshooting or warranty claims that may come up.

Safe Step Walk-in Tub Reviews & Complaints

Customers report being pleased with the responsiveness of the service team in resolving issues with leaks or answering questions that arise over time. Buyers describe Safe Step walk-in tubs as a luxury in-home bathing experience without sacrificing safety. The perks of owning a bathtub come up frequently from customers with mobility issues, with some reporting a significant relief of pain symptoms from conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) rates this company with an A+, its highest rating. Safe Step has earned this mark by responding to customer questions and complaints quickly. Many of the reviews left by customers are specific to the experience they received at a particular Safe Step dealer and may not accurately reflect the service at another location or the brand as a whole.

The most common complaint received by customers is that the tubs and showers can leak soon after installation. It’s not uncommon for a newly installed walk-in tub to need adjusting after some use. Almost all verified Safe Step reviews mention promptness and professionalism in getting installers and service providers back to the home to make these adjustments under the original lifetime warranty.

Some complaints were related to unclear pricing guidelines. Some customers felt pressured to buy when a representative visited their home to measure the bathroom for an appropriate fitting. Some said that figuring out the total cost of various models and options was confusing.

However, most verified reviewers who mention price seem satisfied with their overall purchase and refer to the higher-end tubs as a worthwhile investment for their health and peace of mind. Customers compared the step-in tubs to having a private hot tub in their bathroom.

Finally, a few reviewers warn that these walk-in tubs can use more water than a standard bathtub and often require an upgrade in the hot water system to accommodate the volume.

Safe Step FAQs

My home doesn’t have a standard-sized tub. Will my bathroom have to be remodeled to accommodate a walk-in tub?

Some remodeling may be necessary if your traditional tub does not meet the American standard size. All additional installation tasks, including any necessary additions to your plumbing or electrical systems, are included in the price and are outlined in your custom quote. The Safe Step team has membership in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). I liked all the features of the Safe Step tub and the lifetime guarantee. The salesperson was great. He was nice and very courteous. The installation was great. They had a husband-wife team and they were great.

So far, the tub's quality is good. We got the water jets, the air jets, the shower, the handheld shower, the rain head, the lights in it, and the Bluetooth speaker hookup.

It's not really easy to use this product. The door is too little. I have to get in very carefully. Other than than, we're very satisfied. I like the jets. They help massage my back.

I've taken the first bath in 20 years because I can't get in and out of a regular tub, and the massage jets on my back, which I've had a lot of surgeries, seemed to help.

Safe Step seemed to have the feature that I wanted. Their sales rep was very professional and helpful. He inspected the electrical panel and the water heater, and took measurements. He made sure that the device would fit and that our infrastructure was adequate.

He told us what the steps of the installation would be and it turned out they did it the order what he said it would be done. The installers came in, took out the tub, and the guy doing electrical came in, and got that done.

They got the plumbing set up, and then they brought the device in and got it set up and hooked up. So, they promised to have it done in a day and they were done in about four and half hours. They cleaned up well.

They said that, when they were done, the drywall would return to paint-ready. The patches have dents. So, I'm gonna have to do more than just painting. I just got to use some drywall packs to get it ready.

As far as the walk-in tub, mostly, I like that I can get my whole body in the water. In the old tub, I could barely cover half of my body. Now, I feel more refreshed after the tub because the whole body's been in the water.

The sales representative from Safe Step was genuinely friendly and very knowledgeable. Within 10 minutes, it felt like I was talking to an old friend. He broke the process down step-by-step and he answered every single one of my questions.

The installers worked quickly and efficiently and they were also very professional. As far as the tub, I like the handheld shower because I gotta sit. I also like the water agitation. It works on my shoulders. I can actually float in the tub.

I had a good experience with Safe Step. They sold me on the tub and I don't regret it. The install team was very professional. They did what they had to do in the time they said they were gonna do it. I like the jets. I like all of the features.

My dad visits a lot. So, he needed something where he didn't have to lift his leg up over to shower. I did some research and Safe Step has oxygenated microbubbles and that sold it for me.

Safe Step's rep was very knowledgeable. The team that came out to install was great. It was really hard to get the tub in around us, up some stairs, around the banister, and then around some 90-degree corners. They didn't harm the tub at all. So, I was very pleased.

My father liked the walk-in tub a lot. I love it. I use it myself, too. I like those microbubbles. I feel invigorated after a bath.

Safe Step has a lifetime warrant, and it looked like it'd be better for us, even though it's awfully expensive. The sales rep was good. He was a salesman. He seemed to know what he was doing.

The installation process was good. I was amazed. The guy that did the installation and got everything said he had been with Safe Step for 14 years. I was really impressed with him. He really knew what he was doing. I was amazed at how much he knew about it. You could tell he was very experienced.

He got it through the doorways without doing a lot of remodeling that other people really wanted to completely replace one of our doors into the bathroom. This guy knew the ins and outs of how to get it through there without doing that.

He did have to remove the door frame and all that, but he cut a little notch in the doorway that the tub fit right through there. I was really fascinated with how much he knew about what he was doing.

I did have trouble with a heated seat. The bottom seat heater was not working. I found out later. So, I called in, and they sent a fellow out just the next Monday.

He repaired that and he did a really good job. He was a little bit more knowledgeable about it. He went through some things that the other fellow was not really good with explanation. So, that really helped. The service tech really helped, too.

The sales rep at Safe Step was wonderful. He was friendly, showed up when he was supposed to, returned calls, and explained everything the way he needed. He was very communicative about the tub itself and the process of how the sale was going to go.

Everything went smoothly from beginning to end. I was able to reach out to him later. There was one thing we wanted to change. We wanted to upgrade to the nickel-plated stainless steel. So, that went well. I just sent him an check extra and we got that taken care of.

The installation team was a man and woman from Fountain. So, they were about 180 miles away. They were very pleasant. We all had lunch, and they were very clean together. They got everything done. He forgot to caulk the very top of the sides up by the ceiling. So, they're gonna come back and do that.

I was amazed that the man and woman team who showed up just flat got in there and got it done. It was very quick. They were very knowledgeable. They cleaned everything up. It couldn't have gone better. They didn't have to do a demolition because it was new construction. They were here for about six hours, and they did a wonderful job.

As far as my walk-in tub, my favorite feature are the seat and being able to sit down, and the bars that make it be able to stand up and feel safe in it. The only thing I don't like is that the seat slants forward a little bit more than I would want it to. It's very little. I'm sure that's so that they can drain the water from it.

It might feel better to me if the back of the seat was a little bit lower than the front of the seat so you feel like you're pushed back there a little bit. It's a very slight grade. It's maybe 1%.

I had thought, "Well, maybe they could have slanted it back a little more and then had some little rivers along the edge and the back that made it flow out just like an inch or so around the sides in the back." Overall, it's a wonderful tub. I've wanted one for many years and we finally did it. So, I'm happy.

Safe Step's presentation went fine. That was the only reason I got it. The salesperson was nice and knew what he was doing. We went for what I needed to have and my favorite feature of it is for my wife to enjoy getting in and do what she gotta do.

The installers did what they had to do and went about their business. Everything was okay to me. I had no question to ask. When the tub got in place and we got it set up, it looked good.

I've been interested in getting a walk-in tub for quite a while. I'm 85 years old and I keep telling my wife that someday I'll need something like that in order to take a bath. The sales reps from Safe Step were fine.

The install team was all right. I had called and I told them that it was hard to close that door and it needed to be adjusted a little bit. No one ever showed up to do it. I found a way to squeeze it and shut it, but as time goes by, I may not have that strength in the future.

Dave was able to answer every question that we had. He didn't hem or haw or say, "I'll have to check on that" or "I'll have to get back with you." He had brochures. He had a laptop. He was able to show us pictures of installed Safe Step tubs at other places.

He was very professional. He was very pleasant. He was funny. I would recommend having him as an agent to anyone.

The install day went as smoothly as I would want anything to go for anything in the house. I only wished that things would always go that smoothly. When the installers came in, they looked at my bathroom and it seemed like within about five minutes, they had the old tub out.

They were careful not to track. They put down some cloth on the floor so they didn't track. It was an all-day thing. They got here at 8:00 in the morning. They were here until 6 o'clock.

The only thing was we were told that we would get a call the day before as a confirmation that they were indeed coming on the day that we were told the tub was going to be installed, and we did not. So, we just had to go in good faith that they were actually coming that next day.

We went through the process of taking all the pictures off the wall and everything else in the bathroom that we thought would be in the way. As I was doing all of this, I thought, "Please let them come tomorrow. Please let them come tomorrow." They did.

The technician who did the caulking seemed perfect. It looks like it's part of a continuous piece of material.

I love the tub. I get in it every chance I have. I took my first shower in it the other night with using the little rainfall thing like that. I love it too because it pulses like rain is coming down. I enjoyed that.

Another one of my favorite things with the Safe Step even though I love the whole thing is I love having the handheld shower.

I like the micro thing, too. It makes a bunch of air bubble up from the bottom. It's like having oxygen put into the water. Also it says it cleans you without having to take a bath. I'm a nurse and I'm very OCD, but I love that feature.

If you let it run to the water, it gets really cloudy. So, I do that until it is cloudy, I shut it off, and I sit in it for about 15 minutes. Then I soap up, and then I rinse off with a handheld.

The Safe Step sales rep was the first person I called. He came right away and he was a very talkative guy. His name was Michael. He told me all about Safe Step and the jets and stuff like that. People came to install in only one day. In fact, they came in in the morning and they were finished at 3 o'clock.

When they came in and they brought in that big monster, I said, "What in the world is that? I never have seen anything like that." I wanted a tub. I was looking for a tub, and what they brought in was a big thing, and I never have seen it before.

They put it in and they never tell me anything about it or how to use it. The first time I saw something about it was when it was in. Then the guy put in the water. He said, "Here's your tub." I said, "That is not a tub. That's not what I wanted." I wanted a tub. I didn't wanted a sitz bath.

Now, I'm taking a shower in a bucket of water. The sales guy never had a picture of what I was getting. He said, "Well, those tubs come in in large, medium, and small." I said, "Well, what size should I get? I don't know. What do you prefer?"

He said, "Well, most people get the medium size." But I didn't know what I was getting for medium size. He didn't have the slightest idea until they came in with that monster. I see a big tub where you can take a foot bath in. It is always sit and you don't take a bath in it. That is not a tub.

The only thing that I'm doing is take a shower in it. The guy told me, "Well, you can fill it all the way up over the last sprayer. You can fill that up right away." I didn't do that because the first time I turned on the water, the water sprayed all out because I didn't even know that you cannot adjust those two sprayers.

I don't even know what I'm doing with that tub. I haven't gotten anywhere. I paid $20,000 for that for a shower. I got nothing good to say about it because this is not a tub. This is a foot bath where you wash your feet, or a bucket in the shower where you take a shower in. I am so unhappy.

The sales rep from Safe Step was a nice guy. The installation was a little messed up. Some of the dimensions were off. They ended up tearing the wall out and a bunch of other things happened. But other than that, it went all right.

The end result is pretty nice. There's one thing I haven't figured out yet. It's a knob. It appears to me like a volume control. It's not marked in any way and I don't know what it's for.

I called Safe Step on the phone. They came out. They had booklets and they showed me the different things that the tub would do, and how it's easy to get in and out.

The installation didn't take very long. They had to take the moldings off the wall. They did put them back, but it was damaged, and they didn't fix it. They said in the beginning that they if they had to damage it, they wouldn't repair it.

As far as the tub, it's way overpriced. They were saying that it doesn't take more water than a regular tub, and it does. That was a disappointment. The jets come and the heater could be a little more intense. It's not really what I thought.

The sales representative at Safe Step was really good. He was very honest and very in-tuned. The presentation took about 45 minutes. Right afterward, we signed up.

The installation was an easy process. They came in, took our old stuff out, put our new stuff in, and it was over in about half a day.

As far as the tub, I like the jets. We have all the features. We got the top-of-the-line. It is a little pricey, but it's good for us and Safe Step treated us right.

My Safe Step tub is still leaking. When you turn on the faucet or the showerhead, it's leaking under there. When you set the temperature, it's leaking under there. I have had a terrible experience with Safe Step Walk-in Tubs.

At first, when the whole thing was leaking and it was running off the top of the tub onto the floor and making a puddle, I called, and they wouldn't send Dan out.

They called and said, "We'll send him out, but you have to promise you won't holler at him." I'm not gonna holler at somebody who's gonna help me. They kept saying it over and over again, and I got so sick of it.

Finally, Dan did come out, and it was as smooth as butter. He took off the handle that turns the showerhead on, and he said he didn't see anything wrong with it, but that was before the temperature gauge lever started leaking.

I'm gonna have to call the warranty department of Safe Step to get them out here to fix the leak on the handle and on the water temperature gauge.

It wasn't enough that I paid $18,450 for that tub. They completely destroyed my woodwork. They cut part of my walls out. When the guy put that woodwork back together, he cut it too short so that it didn't descend to the floor. Then, he used a staple gun and just stapled it up.

It cost me another $650 to get someone to come out and take down that woodwork and put up new woodwork saying that he's the one who cut it too short and it wouldn't fit into the floor. So, I had to get more woodwork.

The finish work on this tub looks like an amateur slopped it together-- calking wreathing and peeling everywhere except neatly in the cracks-- a wall with a wave breaking in it where it had to be removed and "repaired" in order to allow room for the tub to fit in the allowable space -- a wall missing paint which the installer managed to spray on the faucets and toilet instead-- calk staining my tile floor.

My husband signed off on this job because he was sure he could fix this. He could if he was pain free enough to work to do this, but I don't know that he can. I am ashamed to have this eyesore in my house.

We were informed by company workers that the company let its regular specialists go to hire one jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none contractor to do the job. So far with just one week of using the tub, I love it. Everything works: but I wonder if a lousy and careless finisher, did the plumbing, etc., right. June 2023 report

The sales visit from Safe Step was really informative and they gave me the price. It was really good. The installers came on time. The first time they came, they couldn't install it because I had to get my electrician updated. I didn't have enough space in my box. I had to upgrade my electricity, which was good because it was about time. My house is old.

Our electrician kind of slowed during the winter, so it was a month's delay. They came in the second time, they laid the cloth all down the floor, they took out the tub, and they put it in. They were very professional. The work was excellent.

My wife loves the product. She couldn't get in the tub for 10 years. Getting the walk-in is well worth the money. We have the heating for the tub and the speakers. We got the water changing, we got the air, and we got the soothing microbubbles. The fill-up time is a little bit longer, but the draining thing goes really fast.

My Safe Step walk-in tub is fully installed. I'm happy with it. I bought that tub separate from the installation. I did not buy the package, but I did hire the person who delivered it who is an installer to install it. I saved a little money that way.

The installation was a little more complicated than it might have been, but I don't think that's avoidable. I wanted the center of the tub underneath a window. To do that, I installed an 18-inch wide closet with three drawers underneath and a closet above, and it took a little longer because the closet was gonna cost me 2,200.

We got it centered under the window and we're really happy with the installation. It's a fantastic tub. The shower is more important than the tub, but the tub is most of the cost.

Safe Step is the best we possibly could have gotten. We've looked at Kohler very closely. The lady came by and talked and talked, and then long after she should have left, she kept talking, and then they just didn't have the product. I also don't think they were offering the shower, and a shower is what most people want.

It looked like Safe Step had all the bells and whistles that are in it. The pricing between that and another company is very close. They seemed like they were the first ones and the most competent ones.

The install team first commented that the measurements are completely wrong and that was by the person who was here who was the supervisor, but the team did an incredible job.

They were super-duper. They had to come back because they couldn't get approval on something they'd done. It was approved the next day, so everything was fine.

As far as the product, it's only a step-in tub. It doesn't have a shower pod. It's for my wife but someday, I'll use it too. People of a certain age can't get in and out of a tub. It becomes impossible. Our tub has soothing lights. It has all the other features that can be used. My wife loves it. The ability to sit in it is a wonderful experience for her.

The only thing was there was no follow-through from the company after a period of time contacting the customer or even dropping by to look at it, come back, talk about it, and just review things with the customer to make sure they were doing everything right. That was never done. Spending that kind of money, something like that should be incorporated into the company.

I liked Safe Step's warranty. I'm very pleased with my tub installation team in Texas, but the crew that they sent from up north down to Illinois tried to put in two tubs back-to-back. They came and set up mine after that one, which I was okay with, but they wanted to work through the night and get it done.

That way, they could get packing and moving back up to where they came from. They did the tub until 4:00 in the morning. They did okay. The tub operates but it has a different door style than the one I have in Texas.

I could get into the one in Texas and walk in it and shut the door without having to stand on the seat. The one in Illinois, due to the curvature of the door, I have to walk in and then step up on the seat to then shut the door, which is a little weird.

It's in my Airbnb and I've had a couple of different women that are bigger women and they said that they weren't able to use it because they couldn't get in, walk in, shut the door, and sit down.

I called Safe Step, and they came out, and we decided to purchase from them. Their presentation was very good. The two gentlemen were really up on what they were doing. They showed us how the tub works.

The installation took one day. They did a nice job putting it in, and it looks presentable. My wife uses the tub and she's starting to get the hang of it more.

I called Safe Step and inquired, they gave me some information, they sent somebody out to look it over and then estimate it, they gave us an estimate, and we bought their product.

From what Mom said, the sales rep was very knowledgeable and pleasant. The installers did a fairly decent job installing it. They gave Mom a walkthrough on how to work it. They left a little bit of trash outside but it was nothing to go nuts about.

My mother has a hard time getting in and out of a shower or bathtub. She loves the walk-in tub. It gave me peace of mind. I didn't have to worry about her falling out trying to climb over a bathtub.

I liked that the Safe Step tub was built right here in the United States. We're really happy with the tub. The workmanship was very good.

Safe Step got an excellent salesman. The guys that put the tub in were great. They had to come back because they had forgotten something, but they did an excellent job. They cleaned up everything afterward, and we were very happy with them.

The Safe Step representative seemed really nice. He spent his time here and stuff. What I hate most is this thing of trying to force you to buy it immediately. The pressure of buying it while the guy is here to measure and do everything was what I hated most.

We went through four tub presentations from other companies and with Safe Step, and I just didn't like that.

My husband likes the Safe Step tub. The installation was good, but then we found out after they installed it that we should have put some kind of rubber strip around it. They told us since we didn't have a shower, we wouldn't need that strip, but we certainly need it because the water splashes high enough to get the drywall wet.

We called the guy to say something about it because we wanted to know whether they could still put something around the tub to keep the water from splashing. The guy informed us that it'd be around $1,300 to try to do something now and that we should have thought of that before, and he was nasty.

The installers were all nice guys but one of them, evidently, when they were working on something, he must have put one of his tools in the railing part of our automatic garage door, and he forgot that he put his tool in there.

So, then when we went to put the garage door down after they left, we couldn't get it to go down all the way. It kept making this pounding-like sound, but it was hitting that tool.

So, we put it up and put it down. We didn't know at first what caused it. It wasn't a major thing. My husband had to put the garage door back on the rail. So, it was something we were able to handle. It was just a silly thing that happened.

The guy that came and sold us the tub was super nice and all that went well. We were really comfortable with the guy that delivered it. The timing of getting it was fine.

Another thing is I want a place where I can actually go and see them. I would never buy one like this again. I want to be able to get into one and make sure that it's what I think it is.

I wouldn't want to do this thing of coming to the door and you have to do it all by looking at pictures and that type of thing again, but only because I had this problem. Had I seen one and seen it running and saw that it was splashing that much, I would have known to get that strip.

The Safe Step walk-in tub is the best thing I've ever had. It has all the works. The Safe Step rep was awesome. He really had a lot of knowledge, he knew exactly what we were looking for, and it was unbelievable how it was all delivered. We ordered it, and within a week and a half, they were connecting to my bathroom.

The installers were wonderful. They worked hard. They were extremely clean. They wiped everything down when they were done, cleaned everything off, and it looked like nobody's been in that room.

I always tell people, "If you haven't done it yet, you should." It's one of the best investments I ever made. The first time I got in it and I closed the door and turned on the water, I was in my own little world.

The Safe Step walk-in tub looked like what I needed to get in and out by myself. Their salesperson was 100% good.

The installers came in, put the tub in, and that was it. The only problem I had was they did not do the greatest caulk job, and somebody else had to come back and re-caulk it around the edges.

Reaching out to a representative through this process was pretty easy, but I told their rep that the caulk was not very good, and she accused us of screwing around with it ourselves.

She was like, "I think you guys probably did it. And you guys probably took it apart and then tried to put it back together and then re-caulked it yourselves." I said, "Why are you blaming it on me? I never even touched the damn thing. We never did anything to it."

As far as the tub, I love it. We got the issue with the caulk. The guy came back from somewhere, and he re-caulked it and let it dry, and it's been great ever since.

Installed walk-in shower about a year ago. Doors do not fit right. They leak water. Hook to hold shower head on wall fell off. Walls of shower don’t fit together & installers filled in the gap with some kind of filler. I really like the walk-in shower but doors & wall look really sloppy.

The sales rep from Safe Step was very polite, nice, and thorough. He spent quite a bit of time discussing the tub. The people that installed it were good. I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't go more in-depth on how to use it.

When they left, I knew how to turn the water on and where the buttons were but I didn't know when I could use them. I didn't know if the tub had to be full of water before we used some of them. If I get any heavier, I'm not gonna be able to get in it. I'm just not having very good luck with it.

I'm having a hard time getting up to it. They added an extra step and I'm just too shaky on my feet and not being able to hold on to the outside of it. I haven't figured it all out yet, and I can never get it full enough to use the dip. I would eventually figure it out.

I wish we'd never got the Safe Step walk-in tub. I can't get it completely filled up. If I try to help my husband take a bath, it's so deep. He likes his water hot, but I can't help him wash the bottom half of his body. If he tried to lay down, he'd drown.

There's just too much water in the bottom of it for me to help him to wash anything but the upper part of his body. That's the irritation for me. If you drop the soap, forget it. You can't find it until you drain it.

My husband never liked it from the first bath. I thought it'd be good for him, but it didn't turn out to be that way. The back shelf that they put on there is slanted. It's not flat.

I know the boys knew it because I heard one mention it to the other one. I don't know what the other one told him because they didn't cut it down to make it flat. They left it the way it was. I really don't like the tub. I wish I left the shower in there.

The guy who first came out did a good job. The installers got the installation done in a day as they said. Their work was okay.

When they came out before they put the tub in, they measured it and they said the 50-gallon hot water heater would be fine. There's a pipe going from the water heater outside and I've seen hot water coming out of it. So, I had a plumber come out. He said, "Did you turn your water up?"

I said, "Yeah, to get enough hot water for that tub, yes." He said, "Instead of your hot water tank blowing up, it lets off the hot water." I turned it back down because it scared the hell out of me. They told me I could turn it up if we didn't get enough hot water. So, I did.

I've been in this house for 13 years, and I've never seen the water come out of that. So, I turned it back down. I've seen hot water heaters blow and it'd kill you if you're walking down the hall when it did because it's inside.

The sales representative from Safe Step was a great guy. He sold me one, so he's pretty good. I'm an old truck mechanic and I know all about sales. He's straight up told the truth and pulled no punches, and he's very knowledgeable. Two young fellas came out here for the installation, and they knew exactly what they were doing.

The tub works like a top. Everything they said it'd do, it does. We've told lots of people they ought to buy one. I like all of the features. I keep messing with all of them. It's a wonderful machine.

As far as the Safe Step team, I have not had one single bad experience with these guys. I called the guy up and said, "Hey, I hadn't heard from them." They immediately responded back to me.

They called me more than I needed. I just wanted to make sure everybody still knew I was here. Then within a few days, they called me and had the day they were coming.

We really like Safe Step. As we get older, we'll enjoy more of it. I did have to upgrade my hot water supply, but it would work.

I went through about four companies to come out and show us what they got and give estimates and see their products. We went with Safe Step because the price was good and the product was way better.

Their sales rep was very professional, answered all questions, and didn't lie to me about anything. So, the sales experience was fine. Both the installers were very professional and very helpful, and they cleaned up well after themselves.

My mother absolutely loves the new walk-in tub and the rest of the family has fallen in love with it now. She was able to get in there and take a bath, which she hadn't been able to do in quite a while. So, this has been very helpful for her. If my friends need to get a walk-in tub, I would recommend Safe Step.

The installers from Safe Step were great. They came in, had the installation done in three-quarters of a day and they did it really well. We like the water pump portion of the walk-in tub. The air is a little too violent for us. The drain is very slow, too. Otherwise, we're very happy with the installation. We're very pleased and it looks beautiful the way it was installed.

I like everything about my Safe Step walk-in shower except for the skid. It's not as slip-free as you want it to be. I've had to move my mother down here to be with me and she could not get over the bathtub. We decided on a walk-in shower and I looked online to see who was the best, and Safe Step kept popping up. So, we decided to go with that.

The sales rep described the shower and they came and put it in, and it's perfect. Then we decided to go with one of the bathtubs in the other bathroom because I had one of those big oval garden tubs. I had gotten some little hairline cracks in it, and so we called him back to see what he had to say.

He came out and he measured. I asked him. I said, ''Now, this is going to be a big bathtub like this.'' He said, ''Oh, yeah. It's gonna be a big bathtub.''

When they came to put it in, it was half the size of the garden tub and shorter. They said, ''Oh, we only got one size.'' I said, ''That's not what I was told.'' So, he said, ''Do you want me to stop it?''

I said, ''Well, you can't now because you've already cut my other one out.'' So, they put it in. Then something wasn't working on the control so I called.

The guy came out to repair it, and I was talking to him and he said, ''Oh, no. We have three-size tubs. We got a bigger tub. I just worked on one the other day. You need to call and talk to somebody in Safe Step.''

So, I called. A gentleman called me back and left a message. ''Well, I see that service has already been taken care of here, so I don't know why you're calling.'' I called him back and he said, ''Well, you got what you ordered. The contract says this size. That's what you got. That's it.''

''I asked for a bigger tub.'' ''You don't want a bigger tub because you wouldn't be happy with a bigger tub.'' I said, ''How would you know what I'd be happy with?''

With the tub, those run out of hot water, so I got the discount on this hot water heater. I did have to get a new water heater. So, I called the representative that came out and I said, ''I asked you for a bigger tub.''

He said, ''No, you didn't. I told you all about the sizes. That big tub is for fat people and you're far from fat.'' I went, ''Excuse me?'' He said, ''It's a little bit wider and it would be shorter. You wouldn't be happy with it.''

I said, ''I asked you, to begin with, for a larger tub. You told me it would be a large tub.'' He said, ''No, I didn't.'' I said, ''So in other words, we don't get to decide what size tub we want. You guys decide for it.'' He said, ''Yeah, basically. That's it.''

So the first time, the experience was fine. The second time, it really sucked and I'm still not pleased with it but there's nothing I can do about it.

I spent over 20-some thousand dollars for this tub that I'm still not happy with because I've gotten half the tub that I had. You can't even lay back or stretch out. It's just not what I was told it would be. So, I'm stuck with this tub and that's the way it is.

You sit in it and you wait for it to fill up. The jets in the back hits you about midway or shoulder blades. So, if you want your neck, and you've got to scoot your butt off the seat, and put your knees up against the wall on the tub.

For it to get your neck in the back, you got to literally slide down into it with your butt off. I've sat down with my legs crossed and sat on the floor just to get the whole jet thingy experience.

We got a walk-in shower from Safe Step. It was less than 10,000, so I think we got a pretty good deal. We had a tub and a shower, but we wanted that because my husband and I are getting on up in the years and we don't need to be stepping over a tub.

I like the showerhead. It's nice. I got to push the shower curtain up higher, though. It's not high enough.

Safe Step's sales representative came out and talked to us, and showed us some pictures. He got the impression I wanted a step-in tub, which I didn't. I just wanted a shower.

The installers were very nice. They took everything out. They had to stop, though, because they forgot some of the equipment, but they came back the next day and finished.

I've already had surgery on my right knee and my right hip is giving me trouble. I called Safe Step and they came out, and all I could think about is getting rid of this pain, getting in that thing, and getting the massages.

Their guy said he'd print me out a copy of the contract so I could read it, but then he said his printer didn't work so I didn't get a copy.

After the tub was installed, the first bath wasn't warm enough so I turned up the water heater. What I had to do was use full hot water to get it up to the level to use the jets, and it'd still be warm. My water heater is not big enough, which I did not know. So, I had to get a step ladder and climb into the tub to use it.

After that bath, I was going to rinse out the tub and there was no water pressure. So, I had to call somebody to fix it. He came and said, ''Well, you got debris in your water and you're gonna have to get a plumber over here. We don't do plumbing.''

He changed the filter, which the water filter is about as wide as a pinhead maybe, and is letting the water through. So, I asked him to return it.

They said they don't do returns. I explained I'm a senior citizen on Social Security and I drew the money out of my savings account. They did not care. I've got an $18,000 bathtub I can't use.

They said they would help me by telling me what I need to do with the plumber to get it working correctly, but they would not take a return, even with me offering to pay for the installation and removal.

They said the tubs are all built separately to fit, and it's true that the exterior is built around it. It is built in the room, but the tub itself only comes in two sizes. So, it's not a tub that can't be gone and thoroughly cleaned and sold to another person when I've only used it twice.

My experience with Safe Step has been stressful. I needed a roll-in shower so I went ahead and purchased it, but I can't go into my shower. The water dam is too high. I can't get over the dam to roll into the shower.

I reached out to Safe Step and they supposedly can't do anything about it because they looked at the pictures and everything looks right.

I like the shower. It looks very nice. The one time that we did try to get into it, I just thought that jump into the shower was not acceptable, especially with everything being wet. It just wasn't safe, and I couldn't get in far enough to pull myself in because I couldn't get past them.

I've been trying to call Safe Step to have them come out and take a look at it or to show me an alternative way or what I'm doing wrong. I'm not getting assistance in finding out how to get into my shower.

This tub is for my 89 year old father with dementia. First of all Safe Step charge my father $23,000. For this walk in tub. In their website it says 8 to 10 thousand dollars for a walk in tub. Plus 5 Grand for installation.

So in my eyes at most it would be $15,000.00 Grand. Why the $23,000.00 he paid. So that's an extra $8,000.00 for the salesman pocket. Highway robbery. You can buy this same tub at Lowe's for $5500 and have it installed for under 4 grand.

So for $9,500 have the same or better walk in bath tub experience. In my opinion safe step tubs aren't worth the extra monies. They say lifetime warranty on everything, untill you call for a water leak. Then they charge you $179.00/hour to fix something that's suppose to be covered in the lifetime warranty.

That's **. If I had to do it again...I'd stay away from Safe Step Walk in tubs. So my dad just spent $23,000.00 for a bottom seal leaking Walk in tub that leaks about a quart of water on the floor, each time he uses it. And now the "CROOKS" want another $179.00/hour to fix a warrantied issue. Stay away.
